Pros

8-5 Government holidays off Some remote capability

Cons

Having worked for a company that has been owned by several banks I can speak from experience that South State has been terrible ever since they bought us out. My company was a small, family oriented business but since South State has purchased us we have gone down hill. We have lost that family feel and now very rigid and corporate feeling. South State monitors everything we do and are micromanaging everything behind the scenes. They have taken over our IT now and it has been terrible. Pay practices are terrible compared to other banks. They keep a lot of stuff secret and are not transparent about anything that goes on within the company. Most everyone in our office can only hope we are bought out again soon.

Pros

Unless you were higher up within the company, the pay was between $10-15/hr. So not the best. However, the hours were consistent and they followed all laws and offered a very generous PTO package, even for first-year employees.

Cons

I found the people I worked with created a toxic work environment. It had nothing to do with the company itself, but if you weren't part of the "clique", my immediate co-workers made it clear I didn't belong. It had nothing to do with my work ethic, I did more than I should have with my title and pay. While they had a good PTO package, if you needed time off for a doctor's appointment, that was difficult to work around.

Pros

They have a nice corporate building to work in and offer remote days at home on a hybrid schedule.

Cons

The pay is not good, no bonuses, no employee appreciation, very poor training of staff and managers
