Pros

Stable job. Benefits are great. This company terrorizes your mental health and stress, so a lot of the time you feel like you're close with coworkers as you're in the trenches together.

Cons

You would think working for a staple company like Edison would be a good thing, and it once was, but everything about Edison is terrible. Edison pay bands have gone backwards since 2010, and the workload feels like drinking from a firehouse never getting a break. You will never promote here unless you are buddies with leadership. Joey and Frankie and the most incompetent managers and are shining examples of everything that is wrong with/at Edison... Careful though, they will smile at you while stabbing you in the back and spreading slander ensuring you will never leave or promote outside of the dept. Edison places higher value on do-nothing managers than the people actually doing the work, and your work-life balance is terrible and mental health will be in the gutter. Edison PREACHES their feel-good core values while doing the exact opposite. You can take a 500% volume of work load and when you don't perform management makes you feel like you're a POS employee. So this drives you to work gobs and gobs of unpaid overtime and no lunches to try to get positive reviews on your annual reviews but trust me .. it will still never be enough. The annual review system is broken... It's a "bucket" managers have for their employees - if you have 10 employees and they are all amazing employees, the review system REQUIRES that some employees be given higher score (more points from that bucket) at the cost of other employees (who get less points from the bucket). There is also a lot of coverups here by management when it comes to safety records and wildfires. Because Edison is focused on paying managers more than than placing higher value on technical aptitude and hiring an appropriate amount of employees to manage the workload... Then when you have a failure in the system that causes fire or something else, management does everything they can to cover it up (Joey, Frankie, Tim) including changing records or omitting evidence. You better believe that they will fire you if it comes down to blame and they realize they will get caught up and held accountable.

Pros

Great pay, diverse hiring, cares about safety

Cons

Very difficult to move into supervisory or managerial roles. Always has a culture of "who you know" not "merit".

Edison seems to be so big that they are not up to date on software etc.
