Pros

There is no shortage of interesting projects and knowledgeable people to learn from at Sovos. The environment is fast-paced but if you're able to keep up you'll continually find challenging new opportunities that test your skills and teach you new ones.

Cons

With the fast-paced environment comes a set of challenges. Employees that are used to being able to have tons of time to ponder or make decisions by committee will be in for a rude awakening. Everyone is expected to contribute and the company culture doesn't always enable slowpokes.

I’m often asked by new hires what it takes to be successful here at Sovos. And, I give them this advice: “Find interesting business problems and solve them, regardless of your experience, your specific role or your location.” We do our best to create an environment where everyone can make an impact and learn through the process, and I’m grateful to hear you experienced the benefits of that first hand. I feel lucky every day to be surrounded by authentic, talented and driven people like you. It’s how I learn. Every day I learn something from someone on the team, and I’m happy I got to learn from you. I’m glad you, too, found value in learning from people with different background and experiences. You are right, though, we run at a fast pace. We’re in a market that is transforming under our feet, and we owe it to our customers to adapt quickly and to push ourselves to get better every single day. It’s not an environment for everyone, but it’s amazing to see people embrace it and contribute in ways they never thought possible. Your comments are a good reminder that we should make sure we stay in touch with how all our people are feeling about our pace -- and challenge ourselves as leaders to provide them with everything they need to learn, grow and thrive in our unique culture. Thanks for you feedback and for all you’ve contributed to Sovos. Eric Olson

Pros

Not many. If you like not having much to and getting paid nothing to do it, this is your place.

Cons

Crazy low pay, no one knows what they’re doing and almost no benefits. Losing customers faster than they’re getting them.

We appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback and are sorry to hear that you had a disappointing experience while here at Sovos. We would like to take the time to address some of the points that you bring up. First, we recognize that salary is an extremely important component when choosing an employer - after all, it’s your livelihood. This is why we maintain a pulse check on market average. We benchmark our salaries against similar companies in similar geographies to ensure that our wages are fair and competitive. In addition to that, we provide regular opportunities for salary increases via promotions and merit increases. Thirty percent of our employees at Sovos experienced a promotion or job change in FY18. You also mention benefits. We realize that salary isn’t the only thing that employees value. That is why we choose to offer a Total Rewards program in which we pair salary with a number of other benefits that help to make our employees lives better. We offer health benefits with an employer matching HSA contribution, myTime flexible time off, paid maternity and leave programs, an employer matched 401k program, tuition reimbursement, development and wellness programs and many, many more. And we feel our employees appreciate that, which showed in a 14% increase in our latest engagement survey when asked about benefits compared to others in the industry. And you are right, we are not a startup company and our huge growth has shown that! But our culture is more reflective of one where our senior leaders are present, ideas are heard, and change is made. We’re sorry that you did not view it this way, or get a chance to experience some of the benefits offered. Again, we appreciate your feedback and wish you luck in your future career. - Joe Healey

Pros

Awesome people and some products are world class. Others average. Top leadership are simply some of the best in the business world. If you work hard, stay positive and get results the org will trust you with more. My bumpy start has now turned into my favorite job. They supported me, trusted me and with time the results came. Not for C players but for top notch people you will love it.

Cons

Can be long hours/average pay

Thank you for the feedback and thank you even more for being a part of our team for the past 2 ½ years! We are so proud of our team here at Sovos. We agree - we have the best of the best! Hearing that you feel supported and trusted in your role is fabulous and we aim to make sure all our employees feel that same level of empowerment. Based on feedback similar to yours, we have implemented a number of programs to help people hit the ground running. New Hire Orientation has been relaunched as First48, and many of our departments have dedicated bootcamps to give our employees the technical and product knowledge they need to succeed. We are always open to new ideas as to how to make our onboarding process better! Just as we are always looking for ways to improve our processes – the same goes for our products. We totally agree that we have game-changing products and there are always areas where we can improve them. Our R&D teams are hard at work executing S1 and our UX/UI teams are ensuring this work is user oriented and customer focused. Finally, thank you for your advice. We know that salary and benefits are extremely important to our employees. We do a lot of research to benchmark our salaries and benefit programs against similar companies in similar geographies to ensure our wages are fair and competitive. Our merit based performance reviews also help ensure that. In addition, there are regular opportunities for salary increases via promotions and merit increases which are based off performance. We are very focused on creating a total rewards package that our employees love, which includes things like HSA matching contributions, myTime flexible time off, our 401K program and more. We evaluate this year-round and we will continue to look for ways to enhance all parts of our benefits package. Make sure you attend one of the Open Enrollment sessions coming up!
