      A company that has wasted potential

      Pros

      Work life balance is really great they are super flexible on time off and do not heavily micromanage

      Cons

      You better hope you end up on a good team with a good territory. The majority of reps don't hit quota, the technology is lacking in comparison to the market, probably 5 years behind the market and do not invest in R&D.

This is feedback we hear frequently from our employees as a positive to their experiences with us. However, I would have to disagree with you about lacking technology. Sovos has continued to be recognized as a market leader year-over-year and most recently was named a leader in the Corporate Tax Software category by G2.com. I am sorry to hear that you have not felt satisfied with your assigned sales territory. Our leaders are dedicated to analyzing and strategizing the best approaches to ensure we are setting our teams and Sovos up for growth and success. If you feel that you have not been positioned to be successful in your role I would encourage you talk to your direct manager, or myself directly to discuss further.       flexibility, good for entry level as they recruit all kind of people not necessary economic, finance background, lots of paid sick (can be terrible if you are the one who needs people to work with)

      low salaries, more a technology company than tax related

      Thank you for your feedback. I really love that you call out the diversity of our hiring process. We have always believed in hiring talented people over specific experience and that creates such a diverse group of backgrounds that grow with our organization. I do agree that we are more of a technology company than anything else. While our products focus on easing the burden of tax and regulatory compliance for business all over the world, our technology and products are one of the most important ways in which we do this.       Fun People, Season is a Bit Much

      Pros

      Loved the people! Bright, nerdy, fun. Even middle management is cool and sweet.

      Cons

      Season is grueling - LONG days, unforgiving deadlines, and then things slow down from January's mania but it's still really heavy at least thru June. For many of the segments there's little to no knowledge base/wiki, and training is kind of a joke of soulless power points without any attention to the social science of pedagogy or how folks learn.

      Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. I love your comments about your co-workers, and I couldn’t agree more. Sovosians are talented, inspired and motivated individuals who are a joy to work with. I also agree that there are peaks and troughs in workload throughout the year. Like most companies, we have times of year that are busier than others for us that’s definitely tax season. Where I don’t quite agree is on the feedback regarding our training. However, our company has an intranet where anyone can access documentation, wiki and knowledgebase, as well as a dedicated LMS where even remote training is brought to life. It also sounds like you are passionate about teaching methodologies, which we are too at Sovos. We have chosen to take an approach that is more aligned with andragogy vs. pedagogy. Which is really to say that we favor adult learning theories and user centric design. It allows us to focus on learning as a personalized journey as opposed to something more rigid, which we’ve found to be very effective. We have been consistently recognized for our training impacts by Training Magazine’s APEX Awards stack ranking in the top third, alongside world leading organizations. That being said, we take all employee feedback onboard, so thank you for taking the time to provide your thoughts, and for the time you spent with us as a valued member of the team.
