Pros
Exciting projects with unrealistic schedules
Cons
-The company structure is full of flaws which makes hard working people unproductive. The project managers rely their responsibilities on the engineers which makes you think: what are their roles then? -There is more paperwork than the DMV. There is a joke floating around at this place: Space Micro: the DMV of Space. For an example, instead generating a Bill of Materials, at Space Micro they generating three Bill of Materials which leads absolute confusion because when the board comes back from the assembly house they don't know what Bill of materials they have used -Documenting is an important task and can be tedious. But in this place is an authentic nightmare. There are multiple steps which are unnecessary and must be approved by people that don't have any real input which delays the process by an absurd amount of time. -There is no time for prototyping which leads to a very poor product. -Licensing is a big issue; the company does not provide any EM simulation software and is not willing to invest on new software -Trying to order equipment is impossible: the company is not willing to invest -Ordering parts is an authentic nightmare. Not to mention the useless program E2shop which makes everybody's life miserable. Not because the program doesn't work; it's because the software wasn't designed for this kind of companies. But certainly management decided to purchase this software due to the low cost Upper management is completely out of touch with reality. They don't realize that without investing in instruments the company cannot progress. The project managers (which aren't engineers or don't understand engineering) create attractive yet unrealistic schedule for the customer. Then the customer accepts the contract and then Space Micro just delays the project by years. I have never such an unethical company in my life. But certainly this kind of behaviors will make the company shut down.
