Pros

open floor environment - no offices "no-asshole" policy Engaged leadership, I always feel comfortable walking up to my VP or director with feedback Anonymous feedback to all leadership for sensitive material Very reasonable compensation packages including non-public stock Freedom to pursue personal projects Reasonable work-life balance expectations Excellent on-site restaurant and snack bars relatively easy to transition to other teams if you are unsatisfied with your work

Cons

As an engineer, if you have to directly work with manufacturing, you will not have a steady schedule and you will eventually have to cancel personal plans because of work. However, if you are a designer, this should be less than 25% of your life. Everything is always late - it seems like this is created artificially to encourage people to work harder. Management is very reluctant to offer promotions. Almost impossible to have pets unless you have someone willing to step in when you have to work late or travel. the parking situation is getting out of hand - lots of employees who started after 2014 need to park extremely far away. there are shuttle services and security though.

Pros

Super challenging and rewarding work. I'm surrounded by amazing people. Launch sites are high energy fast paced. My co-workers are my family (dinners, trips etc...). Work live balance is getting better

Cons

If you looking for an easy 40hr/wk job with low stress, this is not the company for you. Also, if you don't like being the dumbest person in the room, same as above

Pros

The biggest pro for me - there is nothing like watching a launch that you were a part of. It doesn't get old. It's just as exciting every time. For each launch, you've poured you energy into improving your existing systems and installing new ones to make every mission easier than the last. The work environment at SpaceX is unlike anywhere else I've worked. You're surrounded by people who are passionate about their jobs and doing what it takes to get to launch. I had gained more responsibility for systems in the first 3 months of my employment here than I had in a year and a half elsewhere. That being said, whenever I need a hand on a project or someone to bounce ideas off of, it is amazing how willing people are to help. From day one, you're working on systems that directly impact launch. You gain independence incredibly quickly, but know that support is available whenever you need a hand on a project or someone to bounce ideas off of. Like any job, there are pros and cons, but I love my job.

Cons

Funding is tight and schedules are aggressive. It can be demoralizing for some projects.
