Pros

Really cool environment, free yogurt, rub shoulders with very smart and important people, low cost meals, free coffee. You get to see Elon around.

Cons

Very low pay. Job demands and skills don't match wages. FORCED to work overtime(55+hrs/week). Employee parking is a true hassle for everyone except director or above level. Shift hours will conflict with that of a parent that wants to spend quality time with family. Space X is goal driven and very unique company but totally undermines your personal needs. THEY ARE NOT A FAMILY ORIENTED COMPANY. Very difficult to get an engineering job for internal applicants. If this is your goals at Space X, you are better off preparing yourself before applying and get hired as an engineer. If you get hired as a production employee, chances are you will stay in production. A lot of people of all levels and departments quit during my time there.

Pros

Amazing group to work with. You will feel as important as anyone else and your responsibilities truly help the company grow and get better every day. No other job can you make you feel as needed and wanted as SpaceX does. You will love what you do and you will take pride that you contribute to a much bigger goal than just a typical launch company.

Cons

Hours and work life balance... everyone knows this about spacex and the launch industry. Its a tough gig but worth it.

Super cool, but tiring, place to work

Pros

I've been working here for just over three months. It's an exceptionally cool place to work - being involved in rocket launches is just, well cool. You get to think outside the box, come up with novel ideas to overcome challenges - I like that there isn't a "that's the way we've always done it" mentality and relatively light bureaucracy to get things done. Insurance is second to none - absolutely fantastic.

Cons

Work-life balance SUCKS. Work schedules constantly change (due to the nature of the business) and it's difficult to plan things. For those who want overtime, it's there in abundance. However, for those who do not want overtime, it's still there in abundance. Also, in my particular profession, vertical opportunities are slim. However, I lateral opportunities can exist if you're willing to go for it. Lack of a matching 401(k) is a big draw back; Also, in a field that is constantly evolving, tuition reimbursement would be a huge plus.
