Pros

Exciting industry, leading technology. If lucky enough you get to work on rockets. You get to say you 'work for spacex' and you get to post about it on your facebook. At family functions, everyone will want to hear about the exciting job you have.

Cons

Some managers don't understand work life balance. They will treat you like a robot, expect long travel (3 weeks plus for me), not want to give you any of that time back in vacation.

Pros

SpaceX is trying to change the world for the good of humanity, and being part of that is an awesome experience. Plus, the company is a great place to work. The people that work here are smart, passionate about what they do, and not afraid of hard work. Employees are given the opportunity to take on big challenges, which is incredibly rewarding. And come on, you literally get to work at a ROCKET FACTORY. How cool is that?

Cons

Despite how much the company has grown it still seems like there's always too much work and not enough people. As pretty much every review says, you'll likely work a lot of hours, so you really have to make an effort to maintain work/life balance. Many potential "cons" depend on your personality and the type of work environment you prefer. For example, schedules and goals are agressive and employees are given a lot of responsibility and are expected to consistently perform at extremely high levels. This can either be really rewarding or super stressful depending on the person. (But to be fair, even people who like this type of environment can burn out after too much of it.)

Pros

-Cradle-to-grave lifecycle of space hardware measured in months, not years or decades. I saw my designs fly to the ISS 8 months after I started. -A culture that prioritizes functionality and capability over flight legacy/risk aversion. This in turn drives innovation, elegant design, clever solutions, and utilization of emerging technologies. Completely avoids the "Well, we know this decade-old technology worked before, so we'll just use it in perpetuity," mentality that makes all good engineers sad pandas. -Highly meritocratic structure. Promotions, bonuses, and raises are based entirely on performance. (The only thing seniority gets you is nicer parking.) -Free frozen yogurt and coffee. Frequent free gourmet food. -Stock options. -Flexible (albeit lengthy) hours. Work-from-home options. -Working with the most intelligent, dedicated and (increasingly) accomplished engineers and technicians in the field. It is an honor and a pleasure to work with and learn from my team. Good sense of humor all around, too.

Cons

-Persistently lengthy work hours, occasionally brutal. (Orbital mechanics wait for no one.) -Some groups can develop a toxic interpersonal work environment when mismanaged for a long period of time. Not for people who: -Want to work a 9-5. -Can't work weekends at least some of the time. -Can't/won't innovate. -Need handholding.
