Pros

Good people, relatively easy work, reasonable hours. Pretty great considering it's a very corporate environment.

Cons

Pretty standard corporate cons. It's not easy to pivot. Decent amount of red tape. Cog in machine syndrome. Corporate politics.

Pros

It's a giant company and good to get some real world experience that has a very real impact. As a someone who has been in the software industry for over a decade, it definitely taught me new aspects that I didn't witness or experience working for smaller companies.

Cons

Lots of things get lost in the shuffle. There are so many people that things can take a long time to come to maturity. Also, lots and lots of meetings!

Pros

Free internet and TV for FTE

Cons

IT Management doesn’t have an IT mindset. Policies put on IT department are same as field technicians or call center employees. Still stuck in 20 years old management style where CEO thinks for IT employees, work is done more efficiently from office and not from home. So wouldn’t allow work from home even during COVID 19. Google search “staff angered as charter prohibits working from home despite spread of corona virus” No work from home policy. Dress code policy for IT where you can’t wear jeans even on Friday. Forget about T shirt and all. Once you join on one designation, you’ll be stuck there as there is no clear career path. So promotions are almost impossible. Laptops you get will be old and with lowest configuration. Most times you’ll start with 2 or 4 gigs of RAM and it might be HDD. Not much support for individual career growth or professional development. No support for external professional certification or training to keep improving your skills. Compensation is not as per industry standards. You’ll have to be a great negotiator to get industry average.
