Subjective and Often Contradictory Policies
Pros
The benefits are pretty good (free cable). It's an inbound sales job for a superior product that people want. It's easy to sell with conviction in those circumstances. The bonus incentives are pretty lucrative as well.
Cons
The reason I got into sales is because it's objective (as in the main thing you have to worry about is the sales revenue). This job is extremely subjective and extremely political. There are a million policies and they pick/choose which ones they are going to enforce at which times. It's the only job I have ever seen were a rep was producing outstanding numbers and got fired for not following their vague "call flow" policy. The training is vigorous but still fails to adequately prepare you for the job. Prepare to be micromanaged like never before. I'm still not completely sure what they exactly expect out of their sales reps. I've seen some supervisors abuse representatives. A union presence is needed in this workplace.
