Pros

I enjoy my opportunity at Sploot Veterinary Care. They are a start-up which means that they are constantly trying to improve on pain points in the profession. Everyone is treated equal and the nurses seem quite happy. There is room for growth and advancement.

Cons

It has really become a quite busy hospital and with the managers constantly trying to optimize the schedule, it can be a little taxing at times, more so on the nurse staff but occasionally the doctor teams. Additionally, with them being a younger company, there are not yet benefits that encompass family or spouses

- Weekends, 4 weekend shifts are required (a weekend shift means a Sat or Sun so you can be working 2 weekends a month or every Sat or Sunday a month)

Pros

Great diversity of cases with urgent care and general practice. Room for growth within the company, which is awesome. They are always adding in new equipment so there is constant room to be able to grow as a doctor as well (recently added in laparoscopic equipment and cryotherapy).

Cons

Having to work weekends, but good work life balance otherwise with 3 to 4 day work weeks for DVMs.
