Pros

The environment is fun and friendly. Comfortable uniforms. fast paced so you make good tips when we are busy.

Cons

you make $9 an hour a a stylist plus tips and that is it. There is an additional commission that can be made but it is very small and hard to obtain and is purely based on your clients decision so its hard to reach commission. no matter how long you work there you do not get a raise and there is no such thing as seniority here. They are really big on watching payroll so your hours fluctuate so much that you have no idea how much you will be making from one week to the next. There are no benefits at all. No sick days. You have a lot of goals that you have to maintain or you are put on probation so there is really no feeling of job security because there is always a threat looming that you are going to loose your job.

Pros

I have been an owner of 1 SportClips for a year now and couldn't be happier. I am working on opening 2 more locations in my city. We have 10 locations currently here with a good market presence. I have a fantastic team of stylists and we consistently rank in the top 100 stores on revenue and a few of the other metrics. Even the worst performing store in my market is making a profit (I've talked to the owner). I have read several reviews on other sites about folks losing money and bad franchise, etc. but that has certainly not been my experience. Location is very important and SportClips has become more and more involved in the selection process. I think in years past they may have let owners pick where they wanted without much guidance just to get as many stores out there as possible, but now they realize that mistake and are very active in the site selection process.

Cons

Hiring good stylists and capable managers is hard, but doable. Once you find them, treat and pay them well.
