Pros

Nothing. The entire company is a train wreck and abomination of epic proportions. It’s shameful people have been brainwashed by Spotify’s propaganda about how great it is to work for the company. This place is a hot mess dumpster fire.

Cons

If you are a woman, recruiters will low-ball you to ensure you are at the lowest end of the salary band. And if you trying to professionally negotiate your comp package, don’t worry. The unprofessional recruiter will catch an attitude. The “leadership” at this company is a complete joke. A bunch of incompetent, insecure and inept men acting like they know how to do their jobs. Trust and believe, they do not. The company dynamics are also incredibly racist. There are blatantly discriminatory acts happening to almost every single employee of color on a daily basis. Don’t work here unless you want to waste years of brain cells dealing with a bunch of men that act holier than thou as they ramble on and on about how Spotify is a world class engineering organization while bumbling around and eating everyone’s time and money with their ineptitude. I’ve never worked with such terrible leaders in my entire 29 year professional career. Run in the opposite direction of this absolute trainwreck of a firm.

Pros

Lots of smart people, lots of great potential. Really fun place to work at 5 years ago, things changing quickly.

Cons

Management, compensation, promotions, skill matches, and vision are a huge mess. Lots of great talent quit, people talking about quitting constantly. Lower skill employees get promotions constantly. Demoralizing for hard workers to be there. Project priorities are a mess. Used to be a bottom up engineering company and its changing for the worse.

Pros

Smart coworkers, easy to get a long with. Pay is ok especially for very good work life balance. Total compensation depends on when you joined and how your options are worth, but base salary is good and so are benefits. New NYC office is very confenient and nice. Work can be interesting depends on your team.

Cons

Near constant reorganizations. Very inexperienced management, from middle management to the top. HR is nightmare, but good news is most of the people can just avoid them. No RSUs. Pay not competitive for very senior people so hard to hire them. Some people have not things to do, because there was too aggressive hiring and now too many people work on small problems.
