Pros

I am currently a student worker, and I work 20 hours a week. I have worked in 3 different departments and have seen a lot of the behind the scenes work that it takes to make the university run smoothly. Your experience will vary depending on the department you are in. Very supportive environment Growing/ beautiful campus Great location in Austin Diverse student body and staff

Cons

University Politics/ bad communication among departments The university is switching to a more research-focused institution (despite what they say) The president is really out of touch with students (he has made some improvements though) Parking/ constructions

Pros

You will feel rewarded in this role if you choose to work with a professor that has made an impact on your college career in any way. It's challenging, but it's also very rewarding. You will gain a valuable perspective on the processes of conducting a successful course. I would highly suggest for anyone considering a career in higher education.

Cons

You will be very busy. (If that really counts as a con)
