Pros

Management: My position has me working with managers across departments and each has been in their own way: knowledgeable, passionate, helpful and effective communicators. They set a tone of positivity and problem solving. Resources: St. Mary's is the first non-profit I've worked for that gets you the support/tools you need to do your job in a reasonable time frame and with minimum friction (maintenance/tech support requests, software tools, education, office supplies). They will get you what you need to excel at your job.

Cons

As is common among non-profits, some team members can be slow to adopt new/modern processes and technology. But I've found management to be open to learning and improving.

Pros

You get to work with children. Pay is ok. Christmas bonuses are great.

Cons

Don't have to be certified to work as a DSP, so some people don't care about their job.

Amazing Nurses

Pros

Wonderful work environment, serve exceptional children, you can choose how much you want to engage - you can opt into activities like field trips, taking kids into the swimming pool and Easter egg hunts! These are kids with complex medical needs, so it also requires using your nursing judgement and skills.

Cons

intermittent staffing needs - may be asked to cover shifts if I am available
