Pros

Great working here. Great community.

Cons

As a student you are not going to make enough to do much other than get by. But you are still getting a degree, so that is good.

Pros

Pay is much lower than local equivalent industry jobs and as a nonprofit there are no RSUs or other equity opportunities. Retirement matching is decent. Tuition benefit is good when you qualify.

Cons

Bureaucracy and the Stanford Process can be maddening. Creates cutting edge 21st century business thinkers while operating in a very 20th century manner. Academia, especially at a large R1 school, is an odd mix of feudalism, corporatism, and socialism.
