Pros

Home Builder has strong mission, vision, and values. Privately held. Celebrating 60th anniversary in 2026. Great people!! Hard-working, respectful, and accountable. HQ in Reston, VA. They build in DMV, Richmond, Charlottesville, All over NC, SC, Atlanta, Orlando and Tampa, so there are lots of work sites and growth opportunities: In-field positions (sales, construction management) are growing and many promotions come from within. Intern opportunities are excellent! Paid. Substantive work. Has resulted in full time employment. Company believes in hiring early in career to train team members in the "Stanley Martin way." Supports workers with robust learning and development - for individuals and teams. Great people!! Strong benefits package, including 401K matching funds (up to specific $ amount) and pet insurance.

Cons

Salaries can be well below average and increases are a small % of original base. Negotiate. Negotiate. Negotiate.

Pros

Working in sales at Stanley Martin Homes has been a very positive experience, with strong management support that’s both accessible and invested in your success from the top down, providing consistent coaching and guidance. The training program is well structured and sets a solid foundation, especially for those newer to the industry, while still allowing room to develop your own approach. The culture is team-oriented, creating a supportive environment between sales and leadership, and there’s a clear path for growth for those who are driven and willing to put in the effort, making it a great place to build a long-term career.

Cons

The only real con is the need for weekend availability, which is standard across the new home sales industry.
