Pros

It is a very friendly work enviroment that is low pressure while the management still makes sure your doing your job. There is great oppurtunity for bonuses if your in the Easy Tech section. Learning and training isn't too daunting as the stores are not as big as Best Buy. The company is great at recognizing when you get complemented by guest or go above and beyong your norm by issueing "I Noticed" cards. All associates are welcomed to participate in the issueing of cards.

Cons

Raises are low unless your getting promoted. There is never enough people working, especially in the tech department when computers start to pile up to be worked on.

Pros

Hours were decent and the schedules were accommodating. The Easy Tech Bonuses were sometimes really good. Managers were very supportive and recognized if you did a good job.

Cons

Forced to sell a number of "Staples" Warranty Plans. Were constantly scrutinized if you could not achieve that goal. It gets stressful to work in an environment where your job performance is threatened by the number of unnecessary plans you have sold. Training should be improved. Not everything can be learned by reading an online module. A lot of the common knowledge that should have been known was never taught nor mentioned by the managers. There was always only one Easy Tech associate per shift. This resulted in very stressful shifts because most of the customers needed help in buying a new computer or needed an Easy Tech service.

Pros

The training offered at Staples that focuses on customer service is exceptional. This is something I will always be very proud to say about my time at Staples. It takes a bit of initiative to really see all the great opportunities and resources that Staples provides to associates, but it is there.

Cons

At the end of the day it is simply retail. High turnover and low wages. Young associates and people who just generally do not take the job seriously are commonplace.
