Pros

Staples is a fairly profitable company to work for and continues to grow as such. Success varies store to store (as in any retail market), the customer base is predominately a need based group meaning the customer knows what they want. Staples has created a buying environment over a selling environment because of this and it makes meeting corporate sales goals easier than many other retail markets. The IA has a set schedule of 7-3 M-F.

Cons

Staples offers minimal training to most positions. The IA position is one of a kind in most locations and senior management has little training in the role of IA. Personally, I was trained in another store in the matter of two and a half days with an IA who has been with the company for years. I was fortunate enough to have a great mentor, but I cannot speak for others.

Pros

Great work environment from Associates to Management Not very stressful - no real sales pressure if you're not an Easy Tech Clearly defined responsibilities/easy routines Helpful management team

Cons

Pay is low compared to comparable jobs elsewhere. Pressure to buy attachments with higher ticket items Low work quality of associates often leads to unnecessarily higher workload for experts and management.

Pros

Flexible schedules, good management, easy job. Certain departments like copy center and easy tech can earn a nice bonus. You always feel good after making a customers day.

Cons

Some days can be really boring. Also, some customers need to get over themselves. The good outweighs the bad, and if you realize that some days might be bad, you will be fine. If you are unhappy, you will have good customer service skills that can help you get another job somewhere else. Overall, I have had a good experience.
