Pros
Staples is very flexible with availability, working hours and when emergency family situations arise they are very understanding. Full Time Benefits are quite good, and there are mini bonuses every quarter that as a store you can achieve and then split the bonus earnings. Wally Beaupre at the Vancouver HR Department is an absolutely huge asset to Staples and he has always been a great person to confide with. Staples is fantastic if you are going to school and looking to balance work and school.
Cons
I personally feel that Staples is losing its Customer First mentality, and as of more recently at a District level I have witnessed many instances where Management and Supervisors use loopholes in policy to push out people they don't like or agree with. In two instances I have witnessed preferential treatment to GM's and liked associates that were given a slap on the wrist for theft related incidents, while others have been fired immediately for minor situations. The atmosphere at Staples is incredibly cut throat sales for a non commissioned environment. After any and every sale managers or supervisors approach you immediately and ask "how many (attachments) did you get?" In some situations a Customer may only need a couple additional items, so if you provide great service, a great experience and help them find exactly what they needed that should be viewed as a success regardless of if you had added 5 or 10 additional items, however that mentality is no longer shared at Staples. Everything is always about the attachments. Making money is important, but in providing amazing service you will create long term repeat business that will generate significantly more money in the long term in addition to the customer loyalty.
