Pros

I am working as a software developer so my review might be more IT specific. But I wanted to give my two cents to help others. I was recruited as a contractor and converted into an "Associate". My manager was very impressed with my performance but gave me a sloppy salary during my hire in spite of negotiating and told me that for my designation this is the pay and with eventual hikes the gaps will be filled. Though when I check the salary for my years of experience on Salary.com and other resources that is not the case and they are way higher. So basically I am underpaid Pros: 1) Good company if you are settled and have a family. (Because of the laid back atmosphere) 2) Work from home options for couple of days per week (depends on your department) 3) “Good Will” company has a good name. 4) If you are not hardworking or bright enough you can cruise along because nobody tracks your mistakes. There will always be a scapegoat to clean up your mess.

Cons

1) Innovation and out of box thinking is a joke here. First of all nobody is smart enough to understand and appreciate what you are proposing. The Managers and Solutions Architects are pretty dumb and have a very narrow line of thought (since they are working in the same company since they graduated, hence no exposure to different companies). 2) If you are on good terms with your boss's boss, you will grow rapidly otherwise you will be in the same designation for years to come. Nobody cares about your growth though they claim that its otherwise during your hiring and orientation process. 3) My boss is always looking for his back. He will make sure that his team projects his name in front of his boss. Whereas my boss's boss is enquiring about my boss's capabilities by asking unethical questions to me. (I am shocked to know something like this happens, too much politics) 5) Here you are not supposed to repair the hole in your boat which is sinking but keep adding more things in the boat. They don’t have time to fix their existing processes but managers have budget to execute projects which promotes their name. 80% of your time is spent in fixing issues. 6) The main problem I have is the people I work with. If you butter your team lead then you are good otherwise they wouldn’t care for what you say or do. 7) Space issue: In our team we are doubled up in one single cube. Management calls it “collaboration”. But it is very annoying and ridiculous. You don’t have the feel of working in a corporate office. They still continue hiring people without thinking about where they will make them sit. 7) Lack of transparency to policies. If you have any questions then you would not know whom to contact. No HR representative assigned to you. If you are good with office politics and talking nonstop without any direction in every meeting then you will prosper here. Here talk wins over work. Please feel free to comment on the review if you want to know anything specific. I will try my best to answer.
