Pros

Benefits Store Culture Fast paced Exercises Problem Solving The ability to impact lives daily

Cons

The expectation is that you are on call 24/7 so you need to be attached to your phone at all times or else you are labeled as an unsupportive manager if you can’t answer all call or all questions at all hours of the day. God forbid you miss a call and your DM gets a whiff of it. Be prepared to be micromanaged by unqualified District Managers aka (The Regional Directors favorite Store managers) Have an understanding that partners (employees) have a higher priority and importance than Store Managers. Store Manager role is the most forgotten role and abused role in the company. Career Progression is a joke and even when you try to reach out to HR they try to gaslight you into thinking differently as if you are always the problem. Culture is only driven in store by the store leader….. the vision and the “culture” Starbucks wants to live up to is destroyed by local leaders trying to show success through only comps and numbers. When people are treated as a tool to drive numbers versus actual people the vision does. The myth of how we earn labor is even unknown by the company. The biggest pain point can’t even be explained. “There’s an algorithm” awesome!!! If you can’t explain the actual algorithm that’s a problem. There has to be a better way corporate can manage RDs and DMs. I’ve had quite a few and to say there are some terrible ones in the mix that are completely destroying what a great company this is….. it’s sad….. very sad.
