Pros

Benefits, vacation, free stock, mgmt pay is good considering mgrs work about 40-45 hours a week which allows for work/life balance. Development and feedback are a focus so that expectations are always increasing. Customers are nice a majority of the time and you actually have some nice regulars.

Cons

Working with food and often participating in some dirty work/cleaning that is essential to store cleanliness. Very high Maintenance customers that occationally unleash undeserved verbal assault and throw tantrums. As a manager, Barista and Shift Supervisors do not get paid sufficiently for the demands placed upon them.

Pros

After 12 months you get better health-car benefits than most insurance company employees. Paid vacations. Free whole-bean coffee, and discounts. The job *can be fun.

Cons

Some managers will run you into the ground. You will generally do your work, plus the work of others just to keep the store moving. Limited support from management. Virtually no training or learning opportunities in leadership or management. Starbucks was very good about working with students, now they are becoming very inflexible. Students can't make schedule requests unless they have vacation hours to use. Which basically means you can't plan any time for family or school your first year there.

Pros

Besides the great benefits, Starbucks provided: a flexible work schedule while I was in college; a crash course in business management after I gained my BA and decided to move the corporate ladder. Most of all I am appreciative of both the personal and business relationships I gained while working for this company.

Cons

One of the main downsides of working at Starbucks is the inconsistencies which exist and only become more apparent as you move up within the company.
