Pros

Fun place to work, lots of opportunities to develop personal interests. Onside daycare and gym at HQ. Free pound of coffee every week and lots of pastries at most meetings! It is a better place to work than some other places around town, but not nearly the holy grail it once was. Howard's initiatives seem to be the flavor of the month instead of a thought out strategy for long term survival. Cutting of many long time Sr Execs (many of them female) by Howard didn't win new friends either.

Cons

Salaries haven't kept up with market. No annual bonus program unless you are a manager, which means leaving the legal department. 401(k) match is weak (first 4% only) and now discretionary, depending on company performance. Employee stock purchase discount cut from 15% to only 5% so not much of a benefit. Number of vacation days weak for new hires.

Pros

Starbucks has a lot of smart people working for them and a family oriented company. They take great lengths to take care of their employees.

Cons

Starbucks is a flat organization and there is not a lot of opportunities to get promoted. There is also a lot of passive-aggressive behavior at all levels.
