Pros

Starkey is great to work for if you already have family working there. There are many multi-generational employees. The president of Starkey has benefited from nepotism while the company shielded him from multiple sexual harassment lawsuits.

Cons

The Starkey Hearing Foundation is ostensibly a great idea, but that money goes right back into Starkey. The Hearing Foundation's biggest expense? Batteries. Starkey writes off its old hearing aids by donating them to the Hearing Foundation and the Hearing Foundation turns around and buys all its batteries (with donated funds) from Starkey. Management stole from employee stock plan which resulted in a lawsuit.

Cons

This company is in a downward spiral. Ironically, the CEO uses the blockbuster analogy about needing to adapt or die...he doesn't realize Starkey is the next blockbuster as we failed to adjust to the OTC market. Now we are doing mass furloughs on Dec 1 (#starkey family) wow. The current leadership team has no clue on how to run a successful company.

Pros

Great customers and peers. They spend a lot of time training employees on new technology. Good benefits.

Cons

Long hours and pay wasn’t competitive with comparable jobs. Field team is clearly not as important as Eden Prairie employees. ZERO transparency through furlough. Poor leadership at every level. My job was posted a few months after my permanent lay off. Slap in the face considering my years with Starkey.
