One of the best places I have ever worked

Pros

First, for a large company with about 30 offices statewide, there is strong operational management and smart leadership at the top. The people who work here are caring and kind (probably why they got into behavioral health and social services in the first place), and in my office, there is a real feeling of teamwork and camaraderie. The best is that since our services help people (often disenfranchised people, children, and young adults), the work is gratifying and rewarding. The company is also employee owned which is nice, and there are excellent benefits.

Cons

Since there are many different offices throughout California, each one is managed by a local team, so there are differences in how things are done. The pace can be very fast sometimes, and productivity is monitored for the clinical positions. Some days are stressful, as the company is growing rapidly, but in the end, it feels satisfying to be part of it all.

Stay away from the East

Pros

The employees are mostly decent people. Corporate is very organized but hands off to the local areas.

Cons

The Directors and only going to be supportive if you kiss there butt unfortunately. No upward mobility if you don't do the above. If you don't kiss.....you won't get far.

It is disappointing to see this former employee’s comments about the leadership at this program in our East Region. It is true that our corporate structure is decentralized (allowing for quick decision-making at the different locations throughout the state.) However there are nonetheless systems in place whereby the management at our different programs are accountable to the executive leadership at the corporate office. Our company was recently named a “Great Place to Work,” a respected national designation based on extensive ratings provided by our employees in anonymous surveys. These show staff appreciate the good prospects for upward mobility based on merit.
