      Pros

      Relatively stable place to work, however it seems sometimes to promote work avoiders into management while keeping hard workers stuck in their roles. State Farm puts a huge emphasis on perception--even if that perception is deception. Hard, reliable workers should be rewarded with promotion while those who play golf with management and somehow get promoted should not be. That's why I feel State Farm has had trouble growing and maintaining its market share--because it has been managing my perception and not reality.

      The number of employees has decreased over the past ten years, so there is less opportunity for advancement.

      Pros

      State Farm pays pretty well and they usually give you some commission. It also puts you in the insurance industry if you're interested in it.

      Cons

      MAKE SURE YOUR AGENT IS SOMEONE WHO WOULD MAKE A GOOD BOSS. I got a greedy agent, and he would hold back most of our commission. He keeps on firing/hiring people until he finds people who will kiss his ass enough to keep their jobs.
