Pros

Very flexible employer. I work for an agent who is always willing to work around my schedule. State Farm has strong values and ethics along with quality service.

Cons

It seems hard to get promoted. Your are limited to only selling State Farm. The premiums/price is sometimes hard to work with when you have to sell.

Pros

Great team work ability. The management is very helpful. Variety of projects to pick from. Even as an intern, you get great opportunities to learn as much as you can about various insurance products. Definitely a stable company to work for in the insurance industry. The research center always has the companies most cutting edge technology. Every intern just received brand new large computer monitors. There are over three large lcd screens all with video conferencing capabilities allowing interns to network and conference between the research center, headquarters (bloomington, IL), and with field agents if necessary.

Cons

Insurance can sometimes be a somewhat drab industry. Not the most exciting.

Pros

Job stability is the best thing about State Farm. The company is very stable and a leader in insurance. For business administration jobs, this is a good place to work.

Cons

State Farm is an insurance company trying to do software. The understanding of software process is not understood nor wanted. In general, process is very heavy and not flexible. One should not expect to accomplish any task quickly or efficiently. In certain areas, Agile (SCRUM) is being introduced, but the concept is being missed. Most implementations of Agile are shorter time intervals for a complete project.
