Pros

* Managers care, but don't have the power to enact change * Work-life balance is really good * Benefits are pretty good * Bonuses can be nice (if metrics are met) * Starting pay can be higher than other places * Pension currently exists (though can't say for how long) * Can pretty much do nothing all day and nobody even notices

Cons

* Too much red tape and levels of approvals * Too many "cooks in the kitchen" - everyone tries to have their say in how something should be done, regardless of how much they actually know or understand the process * Promotions are done based on who you spend your time schmoozing with instead of your actual results * Dead weight is kept around because company culture refuses to fire anyone* (this review is specific to Systems) for anything less than theft * Raises are pretty much nonexistent, the highest you can achieve on a merit increase is the same as a standard cost of living adjustment at other companies * 401K match is atrocious * Can pretty much do nothing all day and nobody even notices

Pros

This used to be a very long list but that is no longer the case. There are still plenty of talented people working here but all the other pros are gone

Cons

After 28 years with State Farm I see a completely different company than I grew professionally with. While the organization needed changes to keep pace in the industry the changes leadership have implemented are utterly destroying at great organization. It will not be too many years before we are no longer #1 Senior leadership can’t stay focused on any single strategy, wasting time and resources. There is no concern for service at all, employees are treated horribly, pay is slowly declining (used to be very good) and most of all the unquestionable integrity we once had is fading with our current leadership group.

Pros

Pension....for now until Tippsord decides to take that away too

Cons

State Farm used to be a great place to work, now everyone in every department is miserable. There is no flexabilty to be able to have a healthy work/life balance like they used to. They do not care about their employees, you are just another number who is dispensable. They layoff people off then turnaround and hire mad amounts off the street. Everyone believes that State Farm is wanting to close customers as they have realized they are too big.
