Pros

At State Street you actually work with people that are around the same age group, so with that being said it's quite enjoyable at work cause you have an easier time in building a very good rapport with the coworkers in the department. The knowledge you gain from State Street is actually above average in terms of understanding the concepts in the investment industry.

Cons

The salary is way below average, let me say that again, very very low. In terms of what other people are receiving its quite discouraing because they way the company operates, this would be actually a very very good place to work for IF the pay is actually the average means of salary.

Pros

Great launching point for the start of a career. If you need guidance, this is a place where you 'hand is held' and every step is outlined for you. The promotion path in this area is clearly outlined, and if you work hard and prove yourself you will excel quickly.

Cons

Oftentimes the work is very repetitive and employees burn out from this process. Not everyone who is hired has the same work ethic and competence level, resulting in the 'better' people taking on more work. Because this is an operations position, hours can extend into the late night on a frequent basis if any issues are encountered. It is not abnormal to work a 12 hour day, although overtime is available.
