Pros

Its a stepping stone in my opinion. If you are a recent graduate its a good way to learn a lot from those who have been there for many years. The environment is very fast paced. Some of the older people working there, I have no idea how they were hired. Frankly they are incompetent. The compensation is much better then Merill but don't stick around with this company for too long.

Cons

Lots of strong headed people in the office, people think they are something since they come from Goldman or other major investments banks but just do your work, put your time in and get the hell out.

Pros

This large, stable, American financial services company is an excellent place to develop a long term career within the so-called buy-side of the street. The company's focus on institutional investors provides opportunities to learn about complex investment strategies used by sophisticated investors, yet still allow a decent work-life balance away from work.

Cons

This company is very much Boston-based. Away from Massachusetts, opportunities for advancement are few and a branch office mentality is evident. The company does not do an effective job at retaining young talent, often giving them great assignments to develop themselves, only to see them walk away for more money in different departments or competitors.

Pros

Great place to begin a career. Good start for those just graduated. If you work REALLY hard you sometimes get rewarded, but not often enough for the effort.

Cons

NO work/life balance. Expected to work whenever and not able to take certain days off during the year, especially during the last two weeks of the year. When promoted, not supported by upper management to do a good job. Like a revolving door with people coming in and going out.
