Good Pay and Benefits, Terrible Culture
Pros
Pay is good, but lower than GM and Ford Benefits are excellent Oddly enough, Diversity and Inclusion is a small bright spot here. Lot of people of color in positions of power and out of them. Not a lot of women, though. That may be an industry issue in general.
Cons
You will never see your home again. 6-7 day workweeks. You get looked at like you killed their child if you ask to use a vacation day. Toxic Upper Management - Above Area Manager level, nearly everyone is old school toxic manufacturing management. Screaming, threatening, coercing, blackmailing; all that matters is meeting their goals, and they will crush anyone to do it. Promotes an "Us vs. Them" attitude when dealing with UAW employees - There is no compromise. You are looked down upon for linstening to the concerns of hourly employees. If the UAW likes you, upper management will not. HR will not help you - HR is cozy with upper management and are more likely to rat you out for coming to them with a problem than to help you with it. Minimal Opportunities for Advancement - In nearly a decade at this plant, I've seen one person promoted out of this role. They had been in this role for over a decade at that point, and had been passed over twice in favor of friends of upper management, which brings us to... Nepotism - It's the way of the world in the Big 3, but this place has it down to a science. Your boss will very likely be a nepotism hire/promotion, and even if you are too, their connection is likely stronger than yours. There's a good chance they got their position of power via knowing someone rather than earning it.
