Pros
I have been an employee of Sterling since Oct 2017 and over the past year and half I have gained a whole lot more than what I signed up for. From the beginning I was given the green light to do what I do best...."recruit". I wasn't given any limitations and the bigger piece too my success was the lack of being micro-managed.
I came in with years of experince recruiting for IT positions and was a bit skeptical on tranissitioning into engineering for manufactuiring companies....alomost polar opposite. However, with the number of business relationships Sterling has created over the years, it opened a huge door of opportunity for a new guy to get into the fast lane for suceess.
I never felt that I was competing with many internal employees for the same job, or other competing agencies for that matter. There was a bigger pool of candidates to source on and it gave me a higher chance to succeed as a recruiter.
There is nothing more disappointing when you can find a win within an organization and since day one it hasn't slowed down. In fact we have more than we can handle sometimes and that is a great problem to have.
My previous experience has transitioned over very nicely and I have been awarded and acknowledged for my basic efforts. As a first year employee I won both the "Rookie of the Year" and "Recruiter of the Year" along with other awards for meeting/exceeding company milestones. I have also been promoted to a team lead where I oversea a team of three recruiters.
The awards and titles are nice, but that isn't why I decided to do a reverse commute from the city to the burbs. It mainly because I got a greater sense of the staff and management who truly invest in you becoming successful at their company. Its employee owned as well so the benefits are fairly good.
I never thought I would commute to the burbs for a job, but here I am and I very glad I did so. I can't see myself working for anyone else and that is hard to do when the market is always seeking recruiters. If you are ever considering a change, I would strongly recommend Sterling Engineering for both internal and external positions.
Cons
As much as I appreciate my experience here I would like to suggest more out of office events to build on our team building. sometimes we are so caught up on our KPIs and tasks that we forget on the importance of building relationships outside of the office.
Otherwise not much to fuss about. I have been overall satisfied with my place of employment.
