Pros

Good employer; pays very well; positive environment, excellent facilities for adjunct faculty (large common room, well appointed, spacious, inviting)

Cons

Students, as with other for-profit institutions I have been at, are often unmotivated, mentally indolent, resentful of too much "work"(!), intermittent in attendance, and utterly unaware of what it means to be a university student. At my campus, they will bully professors for good grades or else complain to the admin staff or give poor evaluations to professors. Still, this is *not* a distinctive feature of Strayer, rather it is sadly the de facto state of all for-profit universities, in my experience.

Pros

Interesting courses to teach, opportunity to change geographic location, motivated adult students, growing institution that offers opportunity to quickly go into administration if that is your career goal

Cons

management competence varies greatly from campus to campus, university expects adjuncts to perform work for them even during terms when not teaching, not under contract, and receiving no pay from the university, deans may assign you weekend courses without asking first, course designs are very rigid to keep them the same nationwide online and in the classroom, university may increase maximum students asigned to your course without notifying you or paying you additional money, amount paid per course is extremely low and does not increase over time
