CEO Transition has gone downhill

Pros

Great team of people you work with and the overarching mission of the company is important. People at the lower levels are passionate about what they do and helping students. Great diversity initiatives.

Cons

Over-reliance on contractors. No loyalty to employees. Multiple re-orgs in just one year. Top leadership is all about money and not truly passionate about education. They post about the company's mission, yet let go of excellent quality people to sub out for cheap contractors. The benefit options are not good, not all typical services are offered from the insurance company and high deductibles. There is zero transparency and it is affecting the company culture, interested in seeing what the gender and racial pay gaps look like. Zero servant leadership mentality from CEO and other top people in management. Salary is not competitive, similar roles in other large companies pay 20k more. Not to mention the lack of guidance on your roles and what the vision is for certain initiatives. Moreover, persistent silos amongst departments not sharing resources and information affect workflow (recreating things already done) and lead to an uncooperative work environment. Upon laying off hundreds of people last week, they sent one sentence emails destroying people's lives amidst this pandemic. These were people with essential knowledge and expertise, all with no rhyme or reason. They sent a follow-up email that a third party was hired to make this assessment and determination, rather than trusting their directors and managers to have input on who should be let go in the situation of budget analysis. Survivors of this massive layoff are left feeling "survivor's guilt" and not having a clear direction of their role or trusting that they won't be next.
