Pros

C Suite great at driving vision and mission; but not middle management (too many silos) Recruiting team is great. Lots of opportunities to mentor others. Pockets of people working really hard to do the right thing. The bar is high in most areas like R&D. Great products that actually help people offsets the grind. Great growth and market perception. Better than other other Big 5 Ortho companies. Great benefits. Pay is aggressive; likely to be above the market but offset by 10-12 hour days. If money is a main driver then changing jobs is unlikely due to pay variances. Some great leaders but I had 12 bosses in 10 years; some only lasted 3 months.

Cons

Goals and objectives from Middle management (Divisional /Directors on down) completely siloed. No alignment so everyone is working against each other. The higher up you go the less work/life balance you get. (HR will tell you that you control this) but the goals and deadlines don't allow for this if you would in Supply Chain parts of the business. (Engineering functions in GQO seemingly get work/life balance). Leadership caliber vastly different between functions and departments. HR is for the most part not great; not SME's and all layers unresponsive to requests. Seem FAKE and disingenuous at the Leadership level of HR! Promotes the ability to train and move jobs within the company but acquired business and their personnel are often overlooked for jobs in other areas even when qualified because they don't have the right connections. Changed the time off policy for high level contributors and managers to be 'do what you want' but ignoring earned time and ability to bank (was willing to work extra hours knowing my PTO was banked and then they changed the policy and wiped everything out). IT and associated helpdesk functions are HORRIFIC!!! (moved offshore = disaster with ZERO knowledge) Accounting moved offshore and for the most part it's total disaster. Systems and infrastructure not keeping pace with growth trajectory. Lots of 'extra curriculars' for DE&I/culture stuff that doesn't allow everyone to participate and seems like a way to kiss butt to the Sr Leadership team.

Pros

Great comp, great people, great flexibility

Cons

Too much red tape. It is tough to get traction on projects that make a meaningful difference. There are so many levels of approvals and stakeholders that you can't execute projects that would benefit the organization.

Leadership doesn't always walk the talk across divisions.

Pros

Reasonably good benefits, mid-level management is generally good but often unsupported by exec mgmt.

Cons

Unrealistic expectations; Executive/Senior Management is woefully out of touch with their employees, especially certain Divisions. HR is mainly centralized at corporate and is mostly useless to the general employee population. Consistency of policies across sites and divisions is spotty at best.
