Pros

Lot of smart, motivated people

Cons

Management does not want to know the real numbers or the truth about what is really going on. They just want to hear the numbers Wall Street expects and doesn't care how they get there.

Pros

Known for hiring those with limited experience which can get your foot into the medical device door. The diversity of products at Stryker also allows for a lot of choice when moving to other product divisions. Stryker teams also, of course, look favorably on internal applications, so internal movement is much easier than applying to a more senior position from outside of the company.

Cons

Stryker is known for very poor pay and working their sales staff (Associate Sales Reps, and Clinical Support staff) into the ground. Some regions/divisions are better than others but I have heard a lot of dissatisfaction across the board.

Fine job, but not for me

Pros

I had two different supervisors during my time and really enjoyed interacting with both of them, although it was almost always remote. I was the only Specialist at my facility so visits were infrequent. The pay was adequate for the experience I came in with. There was a nice focus on career development with monthly check-ins and goal setting. It wasn't a goal of mine, but if you want to get into medical sales, this is a good foot in the door. You get a lot of exposure to Sales Rep's and learn how to interact with surgeons and OR staff.

Cons

The stress of working in the OR really got to me. I had no one to lean on or get help from during stressful situations. My sales rep also tried to pretend to have authority over me which in reality was not the case, but I felt pressure to do things in ways I would not have otherwise. I ended up doing my best to train the nursing staff and my replacement for several weeks before and during my notice period and still got badmouthed for quitting by my rep. I also found it nearly impossible to schedule a day off, or God forbid, call out. I would end up on the phone all day with the substitute technician, not that it was their fault. Overall, Stryker wasn't completely to blame, but the toxic culture of the OR and narcissistic surgeons are what made me leave.
