Pros

Health care industry - ironically some of the poorest health care benefits for a company this size, given how much money they make selling over priced devices and implants. Valuable work experience??

Cons

Poor pay - The VP of HR has stated that their goal is to pay at the 50th percentile (i.e. strictly average) but hire top talent. Poor work life balance - most managers are clock watchers and care about the hours put in and not the results. Outdated facilities - other than the Corporate and Orthopedic facilities, company doesn't like to reinvest in its business. This is a great company to invest in if you're a shareholder, they deliver value by screwing their employees!

Good place to work

Pros

The company has a good culture and pushes employees to be the best. Most employees are very competitive and want to be the best, and Stryker provides plenty of opportunities for top performers to advance their careers within the company. It can be a great place to build a career if you work hard, have a competitive personality, and play your cards right. If you aren't very driven or aren't a top performer, you might burn out or end up in the same role for a long period of time.

Cons

Job satisfaction seems to have a lot to do with management. If your manager is supportive and flexible, it's a great place to work. If your manager isn't very supportive or flexible, it's not such a great place to work. It's a pretty competitive company, so if you're not a competitive or motivated person or not a Type A personality, things could get miserable.

Pros

Endless opportunities to keep slugging. Sense of achievement when it is done. Fair compensation for work. Limited career growth opportunities. Very tight and clear matrix for most part

Cons

70 hr work weeks will burn you out. Managers interested in thier matrix and bonuses than employees. Can't expect any different in any other place, but Stryker is definitely worse
