Loved SCA as a participant, stopped loving it as an employee
Pros
Great for high school and college students looking for a way to gain experience in their chosen field, make connections to land management agencies, and live in the woods.
Cons
-Real leadership is non-existent. The CEO is incapable of making a decision on his own. -This is a true good ole white boys organization. Very authoritarian and top -> down structure where everyone is kept in their place, especially the women. -The worst managers have not only been retained but promoted. The good managers have to constantly protect their area from damage from above. -False sense of self-importance is part of the culture here - about the significance of the organization itself - its history and founder - on down to managers who think they are a much bigger deal than they really are. -"The SCA Way" - starts a joke but quickly becomes a living hell.
