Pros

I've been at Success Academy Bronx 2 for about 7 months now, words are not enough for me to describe how amazing and special this school is. I have the best principal and leadership team. Our leadership team is super involved with the staff and is always looking for creative ways to make this not only a school but a home to all of us. Our principal is one of the most dedicated, hardworking, and caring individuals I have ever met. The energy that flows around our school is incredible and one of a kind. I wish that when I was growing up Success Academy was around!

Cons

The commute to the school is not the best. But once you get to the school, you completely forget about your commute and you realize you wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Pros

One of the top charter schools in New York based on test scores. Attracts some great people (unfortunately, they don't last long). Eva Moskowitz can be an inspirational leader

Cons

Employee happiness is on the bottom of the priority list. The model seems to be based on bringing in young, idealistic men and women ready to put up with anything and asking them to work around the clock and devote their lives to the job. Few last longer than a year, which weakens the culture...some people don't bother learning colleagues' names since turnover is so high. Vast majority of senior staff are not good managers. Just so many terrible management practices that make no sense. Management seems to have no respect for employees. We are kept in the dark about major issues affecting us, management does not solicit employee opinions, huge discrepancies in salary between the top tier and the rest. Huge focus on testing and test scores. The image of multidisciplinary "whole-child" curriculum just isn't true in Grades 3 and up, when the students spend months on end preparing for the state tests.
