Pros

☆ Salary was higher than at other places (took an overall pay cut to leave) ☆ Time off was higher ON PAPER than other places (much less PTO at new job) ☆ 401k match starts vesting at 1 year, fully vested by 5 (much faster than other places) ☆ Lots of turnover means lots of chances for promotion or lateral career changes (e.g. accounting to management) It's a family company, and if you're accepted into "the family" it's going to be a great place to work

Cons

★ Long hours - hourly rate (Salary/Hours Worked) was actually lower than previous and next job. ★ When I took scheduled time off with available PTO my boos called me "unreliable" and told me that they "could never reach me" (there was no history of calls or e-mails on cell phone. ★ Turnover is crazy (up to 25%/year) and you may not make it long enough to have any of the 401k match vest. (this was my first job where I didn't last long enough for complete vesting.) OTOH - If you're not accepted into "the family" expect to be blamed for things going wrong, work late on Friday and on Saturday while your co-workers disappear after Friday lunch, and be blamed if you report any problem you noticed on a job.
