1. Entire IT department lacks infrastructure. Everything from project management to day to day operations. There has been several instances of new product rollout to the entire company without a single shred of thought occurring in the managements brains. No testing, no documentation, no informing necessary parties of troubleshooting steps. Almost every single project has been a “deploy to production and see where it leads us” and it will affect everyone from the bottom at the help desk to the top (whoever makes the decisions) which leads to the bottom ranks feeling the burn. Documentation (if there is any) is extremely outdated until technicians take it upon themselves to update it with no help from management. Same thing with policies and procedures. Management will tell you one thing - if you complete the task they provide you and it doesn’t work as they expected it to, they pin the blame on you and have you revert the changes. 2. Corporate HR has no hint of process and procedure when it comes to interaction with employees under their purview. Any self-respecting HR department would, at the very least, have a documented system when it comes to employee issues and retention, and would provide any sort of guidance to fixing any issues or would lend a helpful ear. Not go radio silent on issues then show up one day telling you that you are being let go from the company without any specific reason. I understand Ohio is an “at-will state”, but the decent thing would be to allow your employees to fix their issues, or at least PROVIDE A SEVERANCE PACKAGE if you’re going to completely screw them over. The plants have systems in place to talk with their employees about any issues that they may have with the company in efforts to have them stay. They also have continuous training to improve your own personal knowledge base to be a better professional. Corporate says “f that, you’re SOL”. 3. Don’t even think about having the ambition to try and make a change. It will almost ALWAYS be shot down without a solid reason because management enjoys their processes to stay static. News flash, this is not the 1900s. Times are changing. Catch up. 4. Zero opportunity for growth or a salary that will pay you enough to make ends meet. Same thing with “annual raises”.
