Pros

Sun Life provides excellent training for new Disability Case Managers. It’s a great entry point into the field, with structured onboarding, helpful resources, and supportive colleagues. You’ll gain a solid foundation that prepares you well for a long-term career in disability management.

Cons

However, the systems in place can be inefficient — case intake, letter generation, and payment processing all happen in separate platforms, which increases the risk of errors and consumes a lot of time. The workload can also be very demanding. Managing over 100 long-term disability files is not uncommon, and there’s constant pressure to meet performance metrics.
