A Toxic Work Environment

Pros

Some awesome co-workers. Work remote 1 day/week. MARTA goes right to work location. Good experience and ability to network with outside parties. Opportunities to obtain certifications however the money available is extremely limited.

Cons

If driving to work you must pay to use the parking garages and there is no reimbursement or advisement of this prior to starting. This will cost at least $100/month. Uncaring management from the top down. Toxic work environment between top level management and middle level management which bleeds down to lower level employees. Constant infighting between departments that are supposed to work together, which is exacerbated by upper level managements uncaring attitude and micromanagement. Perception that all employees are dispensable and not valued. Low pay for this position/area. Lack of consistency between departments and very few policies/procedures. Those that are in place are not applied consistently. Constant push to complete reviews, regardless of how complete or accurate they are. Extremely high turnover for both management and lower levels and no established/formal training for positions. This results in poorly trained employees training new employees. Due to high turnover numbers, inexperienced or inept employees remain in positions further bringing down the morale and causing more work than needed. Employees are advanced to higher level positions based on who they know, rather than experience or merit resulting in teams not being led or mentored as they should. Very visible preferential treatment. HR is aware of all issues, however nothing is being done. These are the same issues that have existed for years and there have been no changes except for the new employees that come through the revolving door. No advancement opportunities in this department and any attempts to move to a different department will be denied if you have been there for less than 1 year. This departments management would rather have people leave than move for advancement.

Good People / Bad Management

Pros

The people are nice, positive and engaged in their work. They are open to sharing information and improving the workflows.

Cons

Though management promotes improving use of technology and work processes, their commitment does extend to financial support. Projects are hampered by starting and stopping and reorganizations reduce the number of knowledge workers.

Pros

Loved my coworkers and my manager. We all worked great as a team to meet our monthly goals. Best part was helping clients and seeing them happy.

Cons

Higher management has favorites and it is very obvious.. will not get equal pay if you receive an internal promotion... however, if someone is hired externally they will pay them double to do the same job.
