Pros

Emotional fulfilling job, training available at corporate HQ in TX, fun rewarding career

Cons

board egos, corporate doesn't care about the local level if you are profitable. If you're not profitable they pay attention to the board downfalls. Board has to much control over the position, the board requires you to have experience, yet board members are not required to have experience. Board members look for benefits to help their companies be profitable regardless that its unethical. 5 Executive directors in 5 years, ugh hello corporate!

Pros

Nice people, mission-focused, management really makes an effort to involve everything in company culture.

Cons

Everything is last minute and there's no real effort to try to manage projects efficiently. Very little opportunity for upward movement and very low salaries. Training is on-the-job, figure it out as you go whereas sometimes attending a course could have led to greater improvements at a quicker pace.

Pros

Great benefits package, 9-5 (or less) if you're not a Director, everyone is very nice and never argues

Cons

Senior leadership is incompetent, no one else would hire them; no opportunity for growth or cross-training; they claim to be mission focused but are really focused on empire building to the exclusion of intelligent business decisions or good management; more concerned with appearances and public image; no work/life balance if you are Director or above; no strategic planning or business sense
