Good place to work.
Pros
It's a good company to get training and experience. As a technician you receive promotional packets. All you have to do is pay attention to what tasks you need to complete and study for the test you take at the end. You decide when you get a raise! For the motivated individual it's great. Also there's a great family atmosphere. You work with with a bunch of awesome people. You can always call other shops for advise(even Wal-Mart shops) and they are always willing to assist. Over all it's pretty good.
Cons
I have 2 downsides, and they both involve the pay. The first being the same complaint as most others, the wage is a bit low for the industry. I'm a fully topped out(mechanic level) technician, and my hourly wage is almost $2 an hour lower than an "entry level" position at the company 1 block away. It's something that could be revised. Secondly, the new rule about not getting an annual raise unless you have completed all of your packets is a good idea in theory, but in reality it is causing a lot of anger towards the company. I personally see the point I doing it. It is a motivational strategy to influence people to complete their packets, because packets bring knowledge, and knowledge is valuable to the company. But as a mentor this is killing my ability to do my job. A majority of the people I work with do not see it the way I do. In their eyes, you are cutting off their increase in pay. I'm not saying this idea was bad. I'm saying that something needs to be done to show people that it's not a bad thing.
