      Learn the hard way

      Pros

      Decent entry point into trucking. Onboarding is informative. A better job for experienced drivers

      Cons

      My trainer wasnt great (supposedly one of the best). Makes me believe that new drivers will have to learn things the hard way. Drove deadhead too often OTR. The pay didnt become worth it til i became a dedicated driver

      Opportunity to make good money if you run hard

      Pros

      Opportunity for many different positions and routes. Good pay if you keep deliveries on time and run got miles. Can run 5 days and take two off

      Cons

      Not home every night, shop in Sumner is a joke. Every time you have to take your truck for service or have something fixed the techs act like it's such an inconvenience to them. Pay could be better but it's not bad either.

      Swift OTR Driver

      Pros

      Swift does a great job giving new drivers an opportunity to gain valuable experience behind the wheel.

      Cons

      No real cons for Swift but the OTR lifestyle isn't for everyone. The industry in general is in a rough place with low freight prices. You can still make good money but don't believe anyone that tells you this is an easy career field.
