Pros

Fabulous people, interesting work, and flexible in schedules

Cons

For me it was being fully remote and living in another state. Wish I could live closer to the office!

From Dena Ashlock, SVP and Chief Actuary: Thank you being a part of our actuarial team and your five-star review. I am glad to know your experience at Symetra and on our team has been great so far. I understand it can be sometimes difficult to foster connection in our mostly remote environment, which is why we try to find ways to connect employees in-person occasionally. In the meantime, I encourage you to not only look into joining an ERG but also consider registering for one of the several Talent Development programs to get to know others around the company.

From Dave Kryzanski, Vice President Service and Operations: Thank you for your feedback. I’m glad you appreciated the training and support you received while on our team. I also value your input regarding pay and recognize that financial needs are unique to each person and their family. We review our compensation plans continually and we work to ensure that our benefits are meeting the needs of all of our employees. And in my three years with Symetra, I have seen several salaries increased if we find they are too low.

Pros

Good pay and benefits. Pleasant work environment.

Cons

Washington State has a communication style all it's own. It takes at least 2 years to gain the trust of locals and understand how they communicate.

From Maureen Henderson, Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer: I appreciate your feedback given the nature of a remote work environment. Notwithstanding location, the compliance leadership team makes sound and fact-based decisions and to how best Compliance contribute to Symetra’s success while protecting its reputation and customers.
