The employee experience has just plummeted over the last 12 months. Layoffs. Sharp engineers and leaders have left or pushed out. No one to look up to. Some people are running teams with little experience. It's not inspiring and you can't look to them for help or guidance. They are survivors, probably worried about their own jobs in this market.
Leadership constantly changing direction on what to build. No clarity or detailed requirements to build anything new. It's frustrating and telling the lack of experience and maturity, especially in anything related to AI. Leaders talk well enough to an audience but you get them 1 on 1 or get specifics and their depth crumbles. We are struggling and no one is in the details enough to help or lead through it. Some leaders when stressed start blaming culture and teams for poor execution, yet they are the constant.
Engineering moving to Calgary (as in Canada) which is not bad, but when you are a struggling startup looking for sharp and diverse talent, you don't typically look at the great white north to dig you out of a hole, even if they are cheaper.
I don't know. I'm done with this place until something new. Add in no 401k match, bonus, wasted time on products that come and go. No real Eng leaders. Narratives by people who don't know change leadership. Moving away from consulting expertise that got us here. It's just time to call it. There just aren't enough words.
