Pros
I cannot speak for other SH divisions, but IT has excellent management. There are a lot of IT employees, both line and management, who’ve been with SH since it was INC Research, and even Kendall before that. In my management chain, most have been with the company more than 10 years. They are competent, compassionate, and driven. I’ve experienced loss of a close loved one, personal long-term illness (Covid), and needed to take leave to care for a close loved one in the nearly 6 years I’ve been there. I’ve never had an issue with taking leave, either for health reasons or simply a vacation. At a previous job, I had a manager tell me I shouldn’t attempt to take leave to care for an adult step-child after serious surgery, so this is a big deal to me. Communication is clear, direct, and timely. Management is not passive aggressive (something else I’ve experienced at past employers).
Cons
There are managers at other areas of the company whose direct reports are not as satisfied with them. Specifically, some folks in clinical programming have indicated less than respectful interactions. There is also higher turnover with certain line managers in that area. However, even these are few and far between. And I haven’t had any recent (within the past year) such feedback. And my personal (and frequent) interactions with these same managers have always been respectful, so I have no first hand knowledge of anything different.
